THE Perth Redbacks will take part in the SBL All Star Game at the Bendat Basketball Centre on Monday, with money going to Lifeline WA.
In the North of the River All Star men’s team is starter Shawn Redhage and reserve Ben Smith, while Redbacks coach Nik Lackovic will take the reins of the team.
Redbacks stars Emilee Harmon and Ajay Johnson have been named in the North of the River All Star women’s team.
The games at the Bendat Basketball Centre will showcase the State’s top players and some good old-fashioned north and south rivalry.
The venue will be transformed into a Festival of Basketball with talented players, celebrity appearances and entertainment for the whole family starting at 10am.
Basketball WA chief executive Rob Clement said the game offered the league the chance opportunity to showcase their top players all on one court.
“It is a privilege to see the entire WA basketball community come together on this day and help raise funds for such an important cause,” he said.
Lifeline WA chief executive Lorna MacGregor said fundraising events were vital to Lifeline WA’s presence in the community.
“We are incredibly grateful to the whole basketball community for participating in this event,” she said.
“Last year 55,000 Western Australians in crisis called Lifeline’s 13 11 14 crisis support number and the demand for our service continues to increase.”
Doors open at 10 am with the women’s tip off at 12 pm and the men’s game at 2pm.
Entry to the event is by donation with all funds going to Lifeline WA.
