Belmont-based Perth Knight Riders to have lap of honour at WACA after Culture Cup success

PLAYERS from Belmont-based Perth Knight Riders will get the chance to have a lap of honour around the WACA on Saturday after winning a local cricket competition.

The Knight Riders won the Perth Scorchers Culture Cup, which brings together WA’s best multicultural community Twenty20 sides coming together to compete under one banner.

The team will be awarded their trophy and do the lap of honour as part of the Perth Scorchers double header.

Team manager Sumit Khrangarh said the team had only come together in 2014 and had competed in competitions such as the SubCup.

“We’ve won six or seven titles since we formed, the players are all from different backgrounds such as India or Pakistan,” he said.

“The key to our victory was playing as a team and supporting your teammates.

“It’s going to be an awesome feeling to walk around the oval, it will be a huge moment for the players.”
