PERTH Blitz have won a seventh straight game with a convincing 40-6 round 9 victory over Claremont Jets.

Saturday’s game at James Miller Over was the second meeting between the two Gridiron West sides this year with the result almost mirroring the 46-6 win earlier in the season.

Blitz broke away early and overpowered their opponents with agility, going into the half-time break 34-6 up.

The win consolidates the local team’s third position in the standings – five points clear of the fourth placed Curtin Saints.

Rookie receiver Scott Witchge again was a standout on offence with three touchdowns from four receptions and a total of 88 yards, along with two two-point conversions.

Earlier in the day, the Blitz juniors also walked away victors after upsetting the table-topping Jets.

The 22-16 victory was their fourth consecutive win.

A strong first half was also the feature of the juniors’ game as the reigning champions build momentum into the second half of the season.

Blitz quarterback Tom Paskov rushed for two touchdowns and 89 yards from ten attempts.

Next week all three Blitz teams play local rivals Curtin Saints.

Juniors will kick off the fixture at 3pm at Curtin University, with the women and seniors playing at 5pm and 7pm respectively.
