Bowls: South Perth smash Stirling by 45 shots

SOUTH Perth Bowling Club spoilt Stirling’s first home Premier League fixture in their new indoor facility by recording a resounding 45-shot win on Friday night.

The 8-0 sweep enabled South Perth to climb a position to seventh place on the ladder.

Friday night also saw the South Perth women’s Red Division return to winning form, accounting for Innaloo 29-26 (3-1).

Saturday One Blue North avenged a first-round defeat at Mundaring by winning the return match 86-73 (7-1), unseating the Red Tails from first place in the process.

Four White travelled to Leeming and scored a one-shot aggregate win. The 77-76 (6-2) result sees South Perth sitting in third place after 12 rounds.

Thursday One White, missing skippers Ashley Sharp and Scott Walker, suffered a heavy 36-67 (0-6) defeat at Sorrento.

Two White held on to win a thrilling contest with Forrestfield 52-50 (5-1). Each rink was decided by three shots or less.

Four Blue had only half a point to show from a visit to Stirling. The 49-74 result ended a four-game winning streak.

The combined South Perth/Como Six Red side travelled to Manning and lost narrowly, 38-42.
