Aaron CorlettSouthern Gazette

FOUR South Perth cricketers have been named in WA’s final 13-player squad for the Female Under-18 National Championships in Hobart in November.

Chloe Wain, Caitlin Crocetta, Emma Meuleman and Gemma Cassidy will compete in the tournament, which runs from November 23-29.

WA coach Orazio Santalucia said the squad had worked well as a group since late July as they had worked on their skills and fitness to meet the demands of a tough tournament.

“The squad is still relatively young, but will compete hard looking to better last season’s disappointing tournament.”

Last season’s tournament ran in January and Santalucia said the change to November would require adjustments.

“The change in timings of the tournament this season has presented a new challenge to the group who have been used to it running in January,” he said.

“So this required a change in mindset in order to be in the best possible shape to compete.”

The squad: Rebecca West (Melville), Ashlee King (Melville), Niamh Walsh (Melville), Jess Emery (Subiaco Floreat), Chloe Wain (South West/South Perth), Caitlin Crocetta (South Perth), Georgie Ireland (Melville), Emma Meuleman (South Perth), Georgie Middleton (Great Southern/Melville), Abbey Meakins (University), Sheldyn Cooper (Midland-Guildford), Lauren Nicholson (Subiaco Floreat), Gemma Cassidy (South Perth)
