Cricket: Perth win three of four senior grade games

PERTH Cricket Club were successful in three of the four senior grades against Willetton on the weekend.

First Grade bowled Willetton out for 176 to win comfortably, with the wickets shared, though Liam Guthrie, Dean Nelson and Shre Jain did the main damage.

Last week, Ben Mike and Tom Evans scored centuries with the bat.

This week, both underlined their all-rounder qualities with outstanding efforts with the ball.

Mike, playing Second Grade took 5-43 and Evans, in fourths, took 3-32.

Another youngster, Lachlan McRobb, picked up 4-16 in Fourth Grade.

As the season heads towards the business end, numerous finals beckon for the young Demons club. Perth look in good position for a top six finish in first, second and third grade.

The under 17s, under the guidance of Mike Hickey are in third position.

South Perth continues to be a constant danger in the competition with another victory over University at James Oval, with the Sky Blues re-joining the top six.

A narrow 18-run win was enough to move the side into sixth spot as finals become a real possibility.

Matt Bailey (3-63) bowled 21 overs as he took three wickets, while Simon Ringrose (3-31) was damaging early for the Sky Blues.
