Curtin fall against ladder-leaders

David CantoniSouthern Gazette

Carlo Chiellini and Dilip Thapa scored either side of the break for the visitors, but Curtin were overrun by a rampant Rogers while Jordan Hart also got on the score sheet for the home side.

Hart scored first for Forrestfield as he put the ball into Ranjeet Sekhon’s net and only minutes later it was time for the Rogers show to start as he doubled the home side’s lead.

As Rory Binnie played the ball out for Curtin, it was interrupted by the referee who could not manoeuvre out of the way.

Next it was Curtin that scored as Chiellini pulled one back with a powerful, long-range free kick that left Forrestfield custodian Brad Eiffe with no chance.

Rogers then extended Forrestfield’s lead again when he scored the side’s third to give them a two- goal buffer heading into the half- time interval.

It was then Curtin that found the goal.

Curtin were allowed to play advantage after Eddie Tikoft was chopped down in midfield and Jon Krawec found Thapa, whose lofted finish left Eiffe stranded.

With 20 minutes to play, Chiellini was sent from the field after receiving his second yellow card. Forrestfield drew away with two late goals to Rogers.

There is a bye round next week before Curtin play host to Ellenbrook United at Curtin Stadium on June 27.
