Dreadlocks go, $6000 raised

Kaylee MartinSouthern Gazette

Bar and functions manager Ryan Keatley raised over $6000 when he participated in the World’s Greatest Shave last Saturday at a scratch match between Perth and South Fremantle WAFL leagues.

“I am absolutely privileged to be able to raise the amount we did for those touched by leukaemia and hope we can encourage more people to participate next year for an even bigger event in 2017,” Keatley said.

“This cause had a very close place in my heart after losing a very close family member to leukaemia only two weeks ago.”

Keatley had his long dreadlocks shaved off in front of a supportive crowd from both the Perth and South Fremantle sides.

“It was such a blast, we had glorious weather and a huge crowd come to support, everyone was so generous,” Keatley said. “We encouraged everyone to participate by donating to the wonderful cause which they did. I raised a total of $6352.30.”
