Aaron CorlettSouthern Gazette

ONLY one game was played for the Perth Blitz during round six of the Gridiron West season with the junior side being granted an extra break with a forfeit from the West Coast Wolverines.

After a bye in round five, the club was keen to get back into the swing of things at Forrest Park in Padbury.

The Wolverines fought well during the game but the senior Blitz managed to secure a closely fought 20-18 win.

After putting the first touchdown on the board late in the first quarter, it looked like it would be a simple affair but the Wolverines rallied and managed to get the ball turned over several times before the Blitz could score again.

Being two touchdowns ahead of the Wolverines in the last quarter was not enough as two scores were conceded to bring the scores close.

The conversions were the difference in the end, the Blitz coming away two point winners in a well-fought, entertaining game .

Round seven sees the Blitz back down at Anniversary Park in Rockingham to face Claremont Jets.

Needing another win to keep their season on track, the Blitz will have to dig deep to get the points against a Claremont side whose defence has been inconsistent in recent rounds, having conceded 64 points since their fourth round bye.
