RIVERVALE’S Georgia Wilson has been named in the WA Diamonds team for the 2017 Australian Hockey League (AHL) tournament.

The AHL features top-class athletes from the Kookaburras and the Hockeyroos, teams from India and New Zealand, and each state and territory’s finest players.

Wilson (21) said she was very excited about the competition and to play alongside people she has grown up with.

“I play consistently with the same approach to each game, whether it’s a club game, a state game or an international game, but now that I’m one of the three Hockeyroos in the Diamonds team there’s an extra responsibility on me and I’m willing to take that on and be a senior member of the team,” she said.

“I’m excited about the style our team has. Although on paper we’re a young team in terms of age, I don’t think we are lacking anything in defence or attack.”

The 2017 AHL is taking place in Perth between September 28 and October 8.
