WESLEY South Perth (WASPs) and Victoria Park will be well represented in the Premier League men’s and women’s grand finals.
The two teams go head to head in the women’s grand final at Perth Hockey Stadium at 3.30pm on Saturday before WASPs takes on UWA at 5.45pm.
Victoria Park secured a spot in the women’s grand final by beating Hale in last Sunday’s preliminary final.
Tayla Britton opened the scoring for Hale in the 35th minute before Amy Shaw equalised for Vic Park in the second half.
Heather Langham then looked to have won it for the Panthers with a 69th minute strike only for Hale captain Hanny Kappelle to pop up with a goal a minute later to force a shootout.
Hale delivered on its first attempt with Kristina Bates on target for her side while Vic Park’s Georgia Wilson unable to convert her side’s first effort.
Danielle Bestall quickly levelled it up after Emily Smith was failed to score and both sides converted their next two efforts to keep the pressure on.
However, in the decisive moment of the shootout Vic Park goalkeeper Rachel Lynch was able to keep out Line Malan’s effort before Karri Somerville held her nerve to give her side the win.
WASPs meets UWA after the latter beat YMCC 4-2 in Sunday’s preliminary final.
WASPs had already secured a spot in the grand final after beating UWA in an earlier final.
