Jonathon Wells puts Perth in commanding position against Midland-Guildford

JONATHON Wells scored a stunning century for Perth in Premier Cricket on Saturday to bang down the selection door, as he bids for a place in WA’s Sheffield Shield side.

Wells again put Perth in a strong position against Midland-Guildford at Fletcher Park after hammering 144, with the former Tasmanian making it three centuries in two weeks.

The 28-year-old is hoping to be part of WA’s side which takes on New South Wales in Sydney from Friday.

Angus Webster was the main supporter with a half-century, as the Perth side amassed 7-342, to be in a dominant position going into the second day from 11.40am on Saturday.

Under 17 State representative Isaac Townsend had a unique day scoring 67 for the under 17s and then another 67 for 3rd grade, in the afternoon.
