The Year 11 South Fremantle Senior High School student will head to NSW as part of the WA State Baseball team after honing his skills for the last seven years in the South Perth Baseball Club and representing his school in various competitions.
He said he was happy and excited to be given the opportunity to compete.
‘I felt happy because I get to represent my school, my State and my baseball club and because it is a good experience and I get to meet a lot of new people and also see friends from other states,’ he said.
‘I think that personally I will do well, but as a squad we will do really well as we have many returning players and new players who have worked hard and everyone on the team has come together well and hopefully we can bring back gold this year.
‘It is important for young players to be involved in things like this because it is a good experience as you get to meet many other ball players who enjoy the game and who enjoy the same sport as you do and love playing it as much as you do as well.
‘It is good to be able to say that you have represented your school, your baseball club and your State but you also to get to represent yourself and show coaches what you are capable of; that is a great opportunity.’
The competition will run from May 4 to 11.
