While she’s been playing soccer competitively since about age seven, this year marks the 23-year-old’s first with WA’s national league women’s team.
As a full-time employee with the City of South Perth, Bennett has been forced to master a juggling act between her professional career and life as an elite athlete.
“Generally we train four nights a week, so it means I quite often have to duck out of work a bit earlier to make it in time,” she said.

READ NOW“The sessions normally go for about two hours, and sometimes we have to get up early and do morning gym sessions on top of that.”
With working full-time and training, Bennett has found herself constantly on the go.
Being part of the team often means travelling interstate as Perth Glory face off against the league’s other teams, so Bennett splits a significant portion of her time between work and soccer.
“Depending on what day we’re playing and whether we’re playing in another state, I may have to take time to travel,” Bennett said.
“The games are normally on a Sunday and then I’m back at work on Monday so there’s not much time for a social life.”
Perth Glory Women are currently fifth on the ladder.
