PERTH made the perfect start to 2018 in round 10 of WACA Premier Cricket as all four senior grades defeated Scarborough in one day fixtures.

In first grade, Scarborough made 7-232 off their 50 overs at Abbett Park.

Adam Wheater and Dain Moreton then put on a magnificent unbroken stand of 205 to see Perth to a comfortable victory with plenty of overs in hand.

Moreton made 77 not out but Wheater’s 118 not out was superb and he scored 14 boundaries.

Wheater also scored a century against Willetton in the final game before the Christmas break and both these hundreds were faster than a run a ball.

In second grade at Fletcher Park, quick Akash Fotedar (3-23) made early inroads in to the Gulls lineup before Dean Nelson (3-35) finished off the tail.

The 171 target proved difficult as Perth were in all sorts at 5-47 but the Demons bottom order dug deep and skipper Dean Nelson 69 not out and Akash Fotedar 6 not out put on an amazing 36 -un stand for the last wicket to pinch victory in the final over.

The third grade win was due to Alex Snadden (3-34) with the ball and Joel Curtis (60) with the bat.

In fourth grade, young leg-spinner Jaiah Moore continued to impress and his 4-21 set Perth a 97-run target which they got with ease, Tom Evans being 46 not out at the end.

After a poor start to the season Perth has now moved to third on the club championship ladder and all sides are in finals contention.

Perth clash with University this weekend in the final round of the one day fixtures.

South Perth lost a thriller to Fremantle at Stevens Reserve, with the Sky Blues compiling 6-191 off their 50 overs.

Fremantle managed to chase the score down with one wicket to spare.
