Redbacks stung by Cougars

The Redbacks’ men’s team lost 89-92, which sees them drop from fourth to eighth place out of 14 teams.

Swing-man Bennie Lewis top-scored for the Redbacks with 24, along with five rebounds and three assists, while point-guard Adam Johnston was their next highest scorer with 17, along with six assists.

Centre Justin Brown scored 16 and had six rebounds and shooting guard Jarrad Prior had 14 along with nine rebounds and three steals.

The women’s team went down 68-71.

Centre Marita Payne was their highest scorer with 17, along with eight rebounds, while forward Tarsha Fletcher was their next highest scorer with 16.

In her final game in 2013, point-guard Rachel Lisch scored 10 and had five rebounds, five assists and two steals, while Kerise Delcoure celebrated her 200th game with five points, two rebounds and one assist.

The loss sees the Redbacks’ women drop one place down the ladder to 10th.
