SBL: Redbacks register big win over Perry Lakes but lose captain Wagner to injury

THE Perth Redbacks took a 20-point win last Friday against the Perry Lakes Hawks and are now on their way to the top four.

The Redbacks secured a 37-point opening quarter and the Hawks could not catch up, with the final scores settling at 113-93.

Redbacks player Michael Vigor scored 20 points and 13 rebounds, while import Jourdan DeMuynck scored 23 points, hitting 4-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc.

Reed McConnell managed 20 points, Ben Smith delivered 13 points and Lewis Thomas nabbed 12 points, 16 rebounds and five assists.

Captain Joel Wagner started strong with 11 points and eight assists, until he injured his ankle in a collision in the third quarter.

The ankle injury will bench Wagner for about four weeks.
