School Swim Challenge shows strength of the sport in South Perth area

MORE than 200 primary school students took part in the annual Schools Swim Challenge at Southside Penrhos Wesley’s pool at Wesley College on Friday.

Applecross Primary School took out the Champion Combined Team Trophy, Ursula Frayne Catholic College won the Champion Female Team trophy and Wesley College were the Champion Male Team.

Southside Penrhos Wesley president, Grant Shillington said the 21st annual event was another example of the strength of the sport of swimming in the local area.

This year students from Wesley College, South Perth Primary School, Kensington Primary School, Como Primary School, Applecross Primary School, Mt Pleasant Primary School, St Columba’s Catholic Primary School, St Pius X Catholic Primary School and Ursula Frayne Catholic College competed to gain points for their school team.

Applecross swimmers were also the runners up in the Female Team Competition and the Male Team Competition.
