Skateboarding royalty gather for King of the Hill grand final

THE King of the Hill Skateboarding grand final attracted 50 competitors who battled it out in sweltering heat on March 4.

Qualifying rounds were held throughout February at Gosnells, Willetton, Belmont and Roleystone Skate Parks.

An audience of two hundred people came to watch the finest scooters and skaters show off their heart stopping best moves in competition for cash prizes.

The winner for Scooter U15 was Brody Groth with Deon Drage (2nd) Talyn Galic (3rd), Tyson Carroll (4th) and Seth Patterson (5th)

Skate U15 Cam Boden (1st), Ross Rogan-Green (2nd), Bon Liggett (3rd), J-Boy Mills (4th), Mylee Leitch (5th).

Open Scooter was won by Corey Van Dam, with Sheldon Willan (2nd) Caleb Pratt (3rd), Tyler Jennings, (4th) and Wade France (5th).

Open Skate’s winner was Zac Clickers followed by Jayson Turner (2nd), Jesse Nelson (3rd), Brendan Cross (4th) and Bailey Lange (5th).

A special mention goes to headspace Armadale’s best trick on a scooter performed by Sheldon Willan with a nothing front scoot, mini ramp hip and Jesse Nelson who performed a 360 flip, big 3, on his skateboard.

Competition winners for Scooter U15 and Skate U15 received cash prizes of $250, $150 and $100 for first to third respectively while in the open skate category for ages 15 and above the prizes increased to $500, $350 and $150.
