Skaters turn on electric show

With skateboardingchampions Alex Campbell and Harry Clark judging some of Perth’s most talented young skaters, Mr Campbell said the March 9 event had one of the strongest line-ups of all time.

‘Even South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty came down and joined the cheer squad,’ he said.

SbA WA state manager Ben Bowring said it was because South Perth council had recognised the value of skate parks as a community investment that the event was even possible.

‘The skate scene around South Perth is really strong and constantly growing,’ he said.

‘Having such a large skate park caters to all skill levels and ages and it’s why so many major competitions and demos are held out here.’

He said the AM Series WA qualifier was a fantastic day all round.

‘The greatest highlight was seeing how rapidly the competitors’ skill levels have developed since the 2012 series,’ he said.

‘I can’t wait for next year.’

Manning Skatepark will host a Best Trick competition this Wednesday at 6.30pm.
