The boys were down 3-0 at half time, after conceding two goals in five minutes and losing their captain to injury.
Coach Martin Connolly said they bossed the second half, but left themselves with too big a mountain to climb.
“It was a great effort and our captain returned during the second half and played on despite his injury,” he said.

He was proud of the Under-16 team reaching the final after coming from behind to beat Olympic 2-1 after losing 1-0 at half-time in the semi-finals on the previous weekend.
The day ended on a bright note after the club held its windup to celebrate a stellar season at its Miles Park clubrooms, attended by almost 300 children, siblings and parents.
As well as trophy presentations, there was plenty of fun activities including a bouncy castle, face painter, balloon artists, zorb soccer and a juniors versus combined parents and coaches team.
The result was an “honourable draw”. The juniors team comprised youngsters aged 6-16, including eight players from the grand final side.
