Soccer: Chelsea to bring FA Cup on visit to Perth

PERTH soccer fans have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Chelsea’s FA Cup when it visits Perth with the team for its match against Perth Glory on July 23 at Optus Stadium.

Chelsea defeated Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley Stadium on May 19 to win the prestigious trophy and the Cup will be on display at Optus Stadium for fans to see as part of the pre-match activities.

Final tickets for the marquee match are on sale with the Chelsea squad to be announced in the weeks ahead of the game and several stars from the FA Cup winning team are expected to be named.

The match will mark Tony Popovic’s first game as head coach in charge of Perth Glory.

Chelsea is certainly no stranger to FA Cup trophies and its 2018 win marked the eighth time it has won the prestigious silverware.

This will be Chelsea’s first visit to Perth since 1974.

The match kicks off at 7.30pm and will be broadcast nationally, live on SBS.
