SIXTEEN-year-old Joseph Ranford is a step closer to achieving his dream of playing professional baseball after being selected for the 2018 Australian U18 Youth Championship team.

For the past three years the Jandakot teen has played for South Perth Baseball Club and was chosen from about 40 others to be the State team’s pitcher.

Ranford said he hopes to attend university in America on a baseball scholarship after finishing secondary school.

“I am proud to be a part of team, after being selected as a reserve for last year’s competition which WA won,” he said.
