THE Southside Penrhos Wesley Swimming Club hosted its first meet of the summer long course swimming season on Saturday in weather conditions resembling the middle of winter and not the start of spring.
Swimmers braved heavy rain and squally winds to compete in a variety of races at the Wesley College swimming pool.
Parent volunteers cooked the post-meet barbecue and recorded swimming times huddled under umbrellas.
The club is a community based A Grade swimming club catering for students in the local area, not just Penrhos or Wesley College.
