Aaron CorlettSouthern Gazette

Swimmers Chris Purcell (19), Bundi Dingjan (24), Matt Harding (19) and Ben Waldhuter (20) claimed bronze in the men’s 4x100m freestyle club relay event on April 9.

The men swam faster than their entry time with the first claimed by the Marion Swimming Club who included Olympian Kyle Chalmers.

The record result, in a time of 3:24.31, comes on the back of serious illness in the team with Purcell recovering from a recent appendectomy and Waldhuter being involved in a motorbike accident.

Coach Nick Watkins said: “It was a fantastic team effort creating heaps of excitement within the team.
