Tennis: Hensman Park defeats Mosman Park to claim State League title

The South Perth-based club used its finals experience and home-court advantage to claim its seventh title in 12 years over the State League Final debutants.

Home-side captain Zach Itzstein launched Hensman’s Final’s campaign with an impressive 6-3, 6-1 win against Brenton Bacon.

This was followed by a dominant performance by teammate Cameron Fenner who took the second singles match 6-4, 6-3 against Sam Alexander.

Mosman Park’s star recruit Brydan Klein was able to claim his singles match for the club, with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win against James Connelly.

Klein then partnered with Sam Alexander in the doubles over Itzstein and Fenner.

After a tight first set, the Hensman pair walked away with the win 7-5, 6-0.

After securing three rubbers and seven sets over Mosman Park’s one rubber and one set, the fourth singles match between Hensman Park’s Marco Comuzzo and Mosman Park’s George Perez was halted in the third set.
