Aaron CorlettSouthern Gazette

AUSSIE teen Destanee Aiava has taken out her maiden Women’s Pro Tour Title, winning the Perth Tennis International #2 last Sunday at the State Tennis Centre in Burswood.

The young gun stormed to victory 6-1, 6-1 against fourth seed Viktoria Kuzmova of Slovakia, in just 57 minutes.

The victory sees the 16-year-old take home valuable world ranking points and a share of US$25,000 in prize money.

It capped off a dream start to 2017 for Aiava, who not only secured a wildcard to the Australian Open, but also became the first player born in the 2000s to win a WTA main draw match, after upsetting Betthanie Mattek-Sands in three sets at the Brisbane International.
