Twists and turns on the way to the top

Her hard work has paid off because come July, she’s off to the 2013 Australian Calisthenics Federation National Championship in Victoria.

‘I like to be independent and I like to show that WA has a lot to offer in this dance sport,’ said Siobhan, who competed in the National Championships last year as well.

‘I enjoy being with my team and going away to another State with them is a dream come true.’

She said she would be competing with the WA Sub-junior State Team and would be competing in five disciplines ” free exercises, figure march, rod exercises, aesthetic exercises and song and dance.

‘We are exposed to gymnastics, club swinging, rod exercises, figure marching, ballet style aesthetic dance and folk dance.’

Siobhan said that eventually she would like to compete in the Graceful State competitions when she reaches the age requirement.

‘I have a truly talented and well qualified coach for this competition and will commence training for this in January next year,’ she said.

‘In the long term, I hope to attain my qualifications to become a cadet coach and eventually a coach, while still competing in state or national championships.’

The 2013 Australian Calisthenics Federation National Championship will be held in Melbourne from July 10-13.
