WITH the rise of popularity of women’s football, the Victoria Park Raiders Junior Football Club is forming girl’s teams for the first time.
The club is holding a come and try day on March 12 between 5pm and 6.30pm at Higgins Parks as it looks to form junior and youth teams.
Female co-ordinator and coach Kelly Newton said the club was trying to get as many girls as possible to come to the event.
“The success of AFLW and the WA Women’s Football League have helped with the growth of junior female football,” she said.
“It is fantastic that girls now have pathways to play footy at whatever level they want to push it to.
“I feel that is great for the girls and the community to be able to provide football for girls but to also provide an environment that is safe and promotes being active.”
