Volleyball: Aquinas, Penrhos students net places in state team

A NUMBER of local school kids have been named in the School Sport WA State Volleyball Boys and Girls Teams.

Aquinas College students Jackson Barnett, Samuel Bateman, Tom Dempsey and Patrick Steber have been named in the boys team.

The girls team includes Sarah Burton, Sophie Alchin and Tessa Collard from Penrhos College.

The students will compete in the School Sport Australia National Volleyball Championships, which are being held at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre from August 20 to 25.

Around 200 students, officials and parents from six states and territories will be staying in Mandurah for the week.

School Sport WA currently coordinates 42 state teams annually.

These students from public and private schools compete at the School Sport Australia National Championships.

These Championships are hosted by all states in Australia with WA hosting an average of 3-4 events yearly.
