NEIGHBOURS Perth and South Perth faced off in a Round 7 derby in the WACA Premier Cricket competition.

Uniquely, all four Perth teams batted first and much to the satisfaction of the coaching staff, all batted out the day.

In first grade, Perth finished with a competitive 262 against a tight South Perth attack that gave little away all day.

After being in some early trouble at 3-34, Perth captain Luke Jury ground out an important 50 as he and Sean Roberts (88) put on 113 for the fourth wicket.

Josh Nicholas hit a quick 43 to set up a fascinating chase for South Perth next Saturday.

In second grade, Isaac Townsend showed his talents with his first century (102) in seniors.

Kai Hickey with 53 and Tom Casey, returning from injury, with 48 enabled Perth to amass 339 and set their opponents a massive task.

The highlight of the day was in third grade, where Hugh Sando smashed 160 to get Perth to 311. His brilliant knock included 18 boundaries and four sixes.

Ben Spargo (51) did the hard work early in the fourth before Jake Garland (72) and Russell Cowcher (55n.o.) hit out in the afternoon to see Perth finish with a strong 276.

To round out a good day for the Demons, there was a very notable performance in the under 15s with opener Ben Mance making 109 not out.
