DAY 1 of Perth’s round 6 fixture against Subiaco-Floreat on Saturday has gone the Demons way.

Choosing to bat, openers Jonathan Wells and Jacob Snadden quickly put on a half-century at Floreat Park Oval.

Wells was dismissed first ball after lunch for 57 and this then became 5-139, but in-form Dain Moreton (84) and Josh Nicholas (45) resurrected the innings.

Dean Nelson chipped in with 33 and Perth finished with 298.

With one over to face, Nicholas trapped opener McKenzie lbw and Subiaco-Floreat finished on 1-6.

Second Grade is well placed at 2-66, needing 132 for victory.

Lachlan Pratt 3-34 and Jake Van Galen, in his return from injury, with 3-13, were the pick of the bowlers.

Third Grade have a big chase next week as they need 260 for a win.

In Fourth Grade, Perth have fought back well. Runs were the problem once again as Perth mustered just 129 but skipper Kunal Mishra (4-32) has Subiaco-Floreat at 7-81.

South Perth made 272 at Richardson Park in their fixture against Rockingham-Mandurah, the visitors struggling at 3-17.
