THE WESLEY and South Perth (WASP) Hockey Club will put new sponsorship funding towards restoring fire-damaged clubrooms.

Residential apartment developer Finbar was announced as the WASPs inaugural principle sponsor for this year’s season.

The sponsorship will assist with the WASPs immediate goal to increase junior player numbers and develop more pathways for players to compete at an A-grade level.

The sponsorship has come at a crucial time after a fire destroyed the WASPs clubrooms at the beginning of the 2016 season and left members using a temporary facility.

WASPs Hockey Club president Hayley Prendiville said she was thrilled the club was joining forces with Finbar.

“Every year the WASPs Hockey Club grows from strength to strength and even with an unfortunate start to the year, the future is looking very bright,” Ms Prendiville said.

“We have amazing support from our members, our supporters and sponsors and a passionate and enthusiastic committee.

Based at Richardson Park, the WASPs Hockey Club has over 800 members.
