Wesley South Perth’s winning run over in WA Hockey Premier League

WESLEY South Perth’s winning start to the season was ended by Hale on Sunday in Round 3 of the WA Hockey Premier League season.

Goals from Liam Flynn and Sam Ashton either side of half-time proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Fremantle beat Victoria Park 3-2 to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

First-half goals from captain James McPherson and Harrison Keymer put Fremantle in a commanding position but Ben Taylor scored twice in a minute as the game neared its conclusion to level the scores.

With the game looking set to end as a draw, Khan Riley scored a dramatic late penalty corner winner to continue Fremantle’s good start to the season.

Old Aquinians and North Coast Raiders played out a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Tim Howard gave Raiders the lead with a fourth-minute field goal but Marcus Di Filippo’s 18th-minute strike ensured it all square at the break.

Reds’ captain Adrian Lockley then converted a penalty stroke – his fourth goal of the season so far – just after half-time but their lead was short-lived as Tim Howard struck again for Raiders three minutes later to level the scores.
