INTERNATIONAL supermarket giant Aldi is set to bolster its northern suburbs presence.

Scentre Group announced Aldi would open stores at its Whitford City and Stirling (currently Innaloo) shopping centres.

The Innaloo centre will undergo a $830 million redevelopment to start later this year and be renamed Westfield Stirling.

It will more than double in size, comprising about 370 retailers once opened.

These will be the first Aldi stores to join Scentre Group centres in WA.

“We’re pleased to be bringing Aldi to our WA portfolio, which is an area of growth and investment for us,” group regional manager Chris Barton said.

“The addition of Aldi supermarkets at Westfield Stirling and Whitford City will allow us to bring our customers more choice and even better access to affordable, quality groceries.”

The Hillarys store is expected to open in early 2020.
