Balcatta Growers Fresh returns to Italian roots

FRANK and Nina Salvo are ensuring Balcatta Growers Fresh reflects their Italian roots.

The Balcatta couple took over the store in July and recently expanded to offer a takeaway coffee service.

Mr Salvo said imported Italian coffee beans were roasted fresh daily.

“We are trying to focus solely on Italian products,” he said.

They also offer a range of takeaway lunch options and authentic Italian items.

The couple also pride themselves on quality fresh produce, with Mrs Salvo’s father well-known grower Sebastiano Galati, related to Spud Shed owner Tony Galati.

Mr Salvo said he and his wife loved moving from wholesale to retail and hoped to offer a different experience to that of chain supermarkets.

“We love dealing with customers,” he said.

“We know our products and we know our produce well.

“This store has been in the area for so many years.

“These sort of shops are a dying breed.”
