Laura PondStirling Times

A NORTH Beach is business is trying to do its bit for the environment this month.

North Beach Chiropractic is taking part in the Plastic Free July initiative and has implemented some permanent changes.

Owners Lisa and Jack Messer have replaced paper towels in the clinic’s bathroom with a washable hand towel, replaced plastic cups with glasses for its water dispenser and changed to emailing client receipts instead of printing.

Mrs Messer said if she and her husband took their lunch to work then they would take scraps home to compost in their worm farm.

“As young business owners, we realised we need to initiate change in our society as our future is impacted by the environmental decisions we make now,” she said.

“Our only difficulty is the extra time spent emailing receipts, washing hand towels and glasses, and making conscious decisions to change our behaviours.

“This time spent is more than worthwhile to lead by example.”

The business is also offering new patients a free eco-friendly Climate Bottle during July.
