ARTIST Dena Lawrence has combined her vibrant designs with hand woven silk to create Firesun.

The Wembley Downs art therapist created Firesun’s Perfume and Poison collection after working in Kashmir.

Lawrence was so inspired by local weavers’ skills she sought to have them reinterpret her painted works into luxury carpets.

“Having worked as an artist and art therapist for many years, I have always found the journey of the creative process engaging: this has only been enhanced by having my work transformed and individually crafted into exquisite silk artworks by the finest artisans in Kashmir,” she said.

The carpets will be on display at Stirling Community Centres – Scarborough Beach at the Scarborough foreshore on Sunday, July 14 from 11am to 3pm.
