YOUNG performers have had a brush with Australian music royalty in Innaloo.

Legendary performers Normie Rowe and Johnny Young recently joined teenagers from Perth Youth Theatre during rehearsals for We Will Rock You.

About 20 students have been rehearsing at St Dominic’s School in Innaloo for the Queen and Ben Elton musical, which will rock His Majesty’s Theatre from March 23 to 31.

They will form part of the Gaga Chorus, as well as portray ‘Teen Queens’ and ‘Yuppies’.

Rowe plays ancient hippie librarian Buddy in the show, and will be joined by Chris and Courtney Murphy, Dean Misdale (aka DJ Feminem), The Voice Australia talent Paula Parore and Ryan Dawson.

The students enjoyed a sing-along with Rowe, who stays with friend Young when in Perth and brought the latter along for the visit.

Part proceeds of ticket sales will be donated to HeartKids, which helps people affected by congenital/childhood heart disease, in honour of former theatre member and Churchlands Senior High School student Ruby Malcolm, who died in 2016.

Innaloo-based a Capella group Vocal Evolution is also involved in the production.
