Challenge for talented sculptor

Avery is one of six sustainable artists and designers chosen for the task, which incorporate thousands of Nespresso coffee capsules, for the new initiative ” Project Upcycle.

He is recognised for his work turning industrial materials into organic shapes.

‘I’m really excited to be working on this project and to be creating an artwork utilising sustainable materials, including Nespresso capsules which are aluminium so will be very versatile to work with,’ he said.

‘As an environmental designer, I use my work to make the dull delightful. I love the idea of deconstructing everyday items and reconstructing them into inspiring, eye-catching forms.’

Nespresso has commissioned ambassadors from around Australia to create the upcycled masterpieces over a 14-day period to raise awareness of its recycling program.

Nespresso Oceania general manager Renaud Tinel said their aim was to create more awareness about the importance of capsule recycling.
