A BALCATTA veterinarian will present cancer lectures at the World Small Animal Veterinary Association conference in Cartagena, Colombia next month.

Ramesh Sivacolundhu, one of two Australian vets speaking, has pioneered research and treatment for cancer in dogs and cats.

Dr Siva, as he’s affectionately known, will give three lectures to vets from around the world, focusing on three specific cancers and the treatments.

“I am looking forward to presenting at the conference and sharing what I have learned with vets from around the world,” Dr Siva said.

“Cancer treatment in animals is rapidly advancing.

“It’s important to both share research and keep abreast of the latest techniques in order to provide cutting edge treatment to the animals of WA.”

Dr Siva is an internationally recognised small animal specialist surgeon with advanced training in the treatment of cancer who spent eight years in the United States working at the world’s largest animal hospital in Manhattan.

He then completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at the world-renowned Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University.

Since returning from the United States four years ago, Dr Siva has been performing advanced techniques in cancer surgery on the animals of WA and consults at Vet24 in Balcatta and at Perth Veterinary Specialists.
