Best in the west: northern suburbs venues finalists in hospitality awards

SCARBOROUGH is cementing its place in Perth’s bar and restaurant scene post-redevelopment, with five beachfront venues recognised in WA’s annual hospitality awards.

The Sandbar, The Peach Pit, The Lookout Bar Bowling Bites, Scarborough Beach Bar and Oceans 6019 are finalists in the Australian Hotels Association WA’s Hospitality Awards for Excellence.

The Sandbar has been nominated for best bar presentation and service, and family dining restaurant, Oceans 6019 is vying for best themed venue and The Peach Pit is up for the cocktail bar award and social media activity award.

Scarborough Beach Bar will battle for best redeveloped venue against The Lookout and The Little Bay in Watermans Bay.

Further up the coast, White Salt in Sorrento and The Marina Mindarie are finalists in four and six categories respectively.

The Marina is nominated for the outdoor area, conference and functions, and family dining awards, as well as best boutique brewery, bar presentation and service, and casual pub dining alongside Whitfords Brewing Company in Hillarys.

White Salt and Inglewood’s Chakra Restaurant are finalists in the best restaurant award and Varsity Bar Joondalup is nominated for best sporting entertainment venue.

Three White Salt staff are finalists in the employee awards: Jonathan Peacham (head chef award), Angelina Bellingham (food and beverage services employee award) and Tayla Hinkley-Martin (rising star award).

Winners will be announced at a gala ball on November 11.
