ONE of Scarborough’s most renowned bakeries clinched its first best country style lamb meat pie gold medal in several years at the Royal Show Pie Competition last week.

Owner Vuong Dong said he was happy to be recognised for his pies, pastries and cakes again this year.

“We’ve won the lamb pie before but the last few times, we got second,” he said.

“But this time, it was the best of the best in WA and no one beat it.

“Usually I enter the gourmet beef pie…this time I entered the gourmet chicken deluxe pie which was in the top three.”

Mr Dong said his meat pies and pasties always did well at competitions.

“Meat pie was also in the top three but its normally always in the top three each year,” he said.

“The pastie was a four-time winner in 2014, 2015, 2016 and now 2017 – all in a row.”

The Perth Royal Show will be held from September 23 to September 30.
