Ms Chatfield will run the 42 kilometres through New York’s five boroughs to raise funds for the Miracle Babies Foundation, which supports ill and premature children and their family in the months after birth.

Ms Chatfield said the Miracle Babies Foundation was close to her heart after her daughter Harper was born nearly nine weeks premature.

The training and compliance manager said she wanted to raise awareness of the foundation as many parents did not know about its services.

‘When we had Harper, it was just such a whirlwind time ” she was in hospital for four weeks, and by the time we got her home, I kind of found that I didn’t really have any support,’ Ms Chatfield said.

‘For me, it’s a bit more of a reflective thing ” I wish that I had the support of a foundation like Miracle Babies that could have been there to support me through that time, but I didn’t know about them, so it’s important to me is to get the word out for these guys.’

Ms Chatfield has raised more than $10,000 for the foundation and said she was hoping to continue to raise funds and awareness through a Marathon for Miracles Casino Royale fundraiser on Saturday, October 4.

The black tie event will include a live auction and raffles to raise money for Miracle Babies Foundation and to support Ms Chatfield’s New York Marathon expenses, with tickets at $75.

The fundraiser will be held at the Doubleview Bowling and Recreation Club.
