Centre’s future to be unveiled

Tom RabeStirling Times

Scentre Group, the owner and operator of Westfield, is expected to make a joint announcement with the City of Stirling, outlining Westfield's vision for the area.

Last month the Stirling Times reported that the City of Stirling had adopted the Westfield Innaloo detailed area plan and referred it to the WA Planning Commission.

The centre will be reoriented towards Ellen Stirling Boulevard, with two 14 and 20-storey buildings expected on the intersection of Oswald Street.

The development will be divided into four stages, according to the detailed area plan, with stage one concentrated on either side of Oswald Street, with the construction of a town square, as well as retail and possible residential development.

"The square is to become an attractive"front door" for Westfield Innaloo and function as a major entry point for pedestrians from Ellen Stirling Boulevard as well as train and bus passengers," the report said.

"Additional land uses, including residential, will form part of the future development of the centre."

Stage two could feature the reconstruction of Ellen Stirling Boulevard, with the possibility of retail development on the eastern side of the boulevard.

Stage three would represent the northern-most section of the development, with mixed use development, while the final stage will be the redevelopment of the corner of Scarborough Beach Road.

The announcement will take place at 11am on Wednesday.
