The initiative from Main Roads and the State Government aims to ease congestion and assessed nine traffic routes in the metro area.

It included improvements to Wanneroo Road from Cape Street to Reid Highway, Marmion Avenue from Karrinyup Road to Hodges Drive and Charles Street from Newcastle Street to London Road.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the year-long program by Main Roads saw the biggest improvements on Canning Highway (18.2 per cent faster), Charles Street (24.4 per cent faster) and Shepperton Road (28.4 per cent faster).

“We are extending the green time for the major traffic flow while rationalising the signal times for side streets,” Mr Nalder said.
