Churchlands: Newman College forced to bring in dog restrictions after recent attacks

TWO recent dog attacks at Newman College have forced the Churchlands school to bring in dog restrictions.

The school said the “serious incidents” were among several and “required medical attention”.

It has stopped short of banning dogs on its property, restricting them to use of the oval outside of the hours of 8am to 4pm. Principal John Finneran said Newman welcomed the connection with “our community through the enjoyment of our beautiful grounds”.

“It is hoped the observance of these rules will support ongoing access to dog owners into the future,” he said.

Signs will be erected at school entries, outlining that it is private property, dogs must be on a leash and “clean up after your dog”.
