City of Stirling council gives $150,000 worth of funding to community groups

CITY of Stirling council has given $150,000 worth of funding to community groups after approving the cultural development fund flagship applications for 2016-17.

Councillors voted unanimously to approve funding to 10 community groups, which encourage community spirit, enhance cultural diversity and nurture the arts.

The Inglewood Night Markets, Wembley Down District Fair, Osborne Park Agricultural Show, Art and Beach Party, Carols at Scarborough, Mt Lawley Christmas Festival, Rotary Carine Community Fair, Mirrabooka NAIDOC, Lullaby and centenary of Popular Photography in WA received funding under the applications.

Councillor David Michael said the events were unique in the community and deserved to get funding they asked for to support the events and ensure they continued.
