City’s funding bid rejected

For the second year running, the City applied for $15 million in funding in April, through the Federal Department of Local Government’s Development Australia Fund program.

Mayor David Boothman said previous applications had been denied due to a lack of commitment to the project by the State Government, but with the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) now on board, he believed the City would be successful in its application.

However just before a trip to Canberra two weeks ago, the City received the bad news.
