President Greg Johnson said the club would celebrate 10 years of success after the Hamersley-Carine and Doubleview Cricket Clubs merged.

After both sides struggled with memberships in the mid-2000s, Johnson said the merger had proved to be a good decision.

‘There’s a really strong sense of community at the club,’ he said. ‘I had played cricket elsewhere but I was welcomed with open arms by all of the members and I’d like to think that the new members who come down feel the same way.

‘The juniors are the lifeblood of the club, that’s where you get your continuity of senior players coming through and some of our juniors have gone on to bigger and better things, including AJ Tye and Marcus Harris, who have played for the Perth Scorchers.’

Johnson said all past players of the two clubs were welcome at the event, to be held on Saturday, April 11.

‘We’re going to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the merger of the two clubs with an event at the Hillarys Yacht Club ” the Bulldog Ball ” which will celebrate the history of the Doubleview Carine Cricket Club as well as the two that came before it,’ he said.

‘It will be a great night with a lot of past players and presidents, life members and current playing stocks, and it will also double as our awards night.’

The president encouraged anyone interested in the sport to come down to the club, regardless of ability or age.
